Welcome to Good Roots. By using our app, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Good Roots, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our app.
Medical Disclaimer
Important: Good Roots provides nutritional information and guidance, but is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Use of the App
You agree to use Good Roots only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the app or servers
- Copy, modify, or distribute app content without permission
- Use automated systems to access the app
User Accounts
To use certain features, you may need to create an account. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use
- Providing accurate and current information
Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of Good Roots are owned by Maternal Health AI and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
User-Contributed Content
When you contribute product information to Good Roots (including ingredient label photos, product details, and comments), you grant Maternal Health AI a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and incorporate that content into our product database to improve the service for all users. You retain ownership of the original photos you submit.
By submitting content, you represent that you have the right to share it and that it does not violate any third-party rights.
Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time through the app (Settings → Delete Account). When you delete your account:
- Your personal data (profile, health conditions, scan history) will be permanently deleted immediately
- Any active subscription must be cancelled separately through your device's subscription settings
- Product contributions you submitted are anonymized (your identity is removed) but the product data is retained to benefit all users
Third-Party Data Sources
Good Roots uses the following third-party data sources for product information and nutrition data:
- Open Food Facts — An open, collaborative food product database licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0. For more information, visit openfoodfacts.org.
- USDA FoodData Central — The U.S. Department of Agriculture's food composition database. Public domain data maintained by the U.S. government.
Ingredient safety determinations are compiled from published research by the FDA, ACOG, CDC, NIH, and peer-reviewed studies. Each safety verdict is backed by specific citations to its source material.
Subscriptions and Payments
Good Roots offers both free and premium subscription tiers. Premium features — including unlimited product scanning, detailed ingredient breakdowns, personalized recipes, and full kitchen inventory management — are available through in-app purchase subscriptions.
Subscription Plans
The following subscription plans may be available:
- Weekly — Billed every 7 days
- Monthly — Billed every calendar month
- 6-Month — Billed every 6 months
- Annual — Billed every 12 months
- Lifetime — One-time purchase granting access for the lifetime of the app
Actual pricing and availability of plans are displayed within the app at the time of purchase. Not all plans may be available at all times.
Auto-Renewal
Recurring subscriptions (Weekly, Monthly, 6-Month, and Annual) automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple App Store or Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price you originally purchased.
Lifetime Plan
The Lifetime plan is a one-time, non-recurring purchase that grants access to premium features for the lifetime of the Good Roots application. “Lifetime” refers to the operational life of the app, not the lifetime of the purchaser. If Good Roots is discontinued, lifetime access ends at that time.
Free Trials
We may offer free trial periods for certain subscription plans. If you do not cancel before the free trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the advertised price. Free trial eligibility is determined by Apple or Google and is typically limited to one trial per Apple ID or Google account.
Cancellation
You may cancel a recurring subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings:
- iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Good Roots → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → Good Roots → Cancel
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until then. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
Refunds
All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Refund requests must be directed to Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies. Maternal Health AI does not process refunds directly.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time. Price changes for existing subscribers will take effect at the start of the next billing period following notice of the change. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Information Accuracy
While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of all content. Food safety guidelines may change, and individual circumstances vary. Always verify critical information with your healthcare provider.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maternal Health AI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the app.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
